Megan Fox is a sexy crime boss in Johnny and Clyde.
Megan Fox has been off social media for weeks following allegations that Machine Gun Kelly was cheating on her. Finally, thanks to the first trailer for her latest film, Johnny and Clyde, fans can catch the star in action again. In the trailer, Fox doesn’t have the same hair color she debuted at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, but it’s a different look for the screen siren.
Playing a villain, Megan Fox owns the screen every time she’s shown during the trailer, likely making fans wish that the whole movie was about Alana, the casino crime boss. Instead, Johnny and Clyde is about serial killer lovers played by Avan Jogia (known best as Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City) and Ajani Russell, a newcomer with few credits on IMDb, outside of starring in 12 episodes of the HBO series Betty. In fact, outside of Fox, the only other big name attached to the project is Bai Ling, one of the world’s most prolific action stars.
Johnny and Clyde is likely going to be a disaster, and unfortunately, Megan Fox has been in a few of those in her career. From the legendarily bad Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to one of the worst comic book adaptations ever made in Jonah Hex, Fox should stay away from action movies. When given top billing, and a degree of creative freedom, she’s capable of award-winning performances in solid hits, even if they haven’t been blockbusters.
Jennifer’s Body, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, is a cult classic horror film that plays against the stereotype of Fox as a sex symbol. Granted, it leans into the trope in the process, but it’s a wild ride nonetheless. Til Death, Fox’s most recent black comedy, requires her to do most of the heavy lifting in the film, and the result is a strange but, again, darkly enjoyable film.
For this latest outing, going by the trailer for Johnny and Clyde, the best part looks like it will be Megan Fox’s various dresses and getting to play straight evil for one of the only times in her career. Maybe the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star will come back to social media in order to promote the film? Then again, it’s out in just a few days, on May 5, and it’s competing against Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so at this point, no amount of marketing is going to help it.
Megan Fox’s next film, Subservience, has her playing a domestic robot that slowly turns against her owners in what sounds on paper like a more adult version of M3GAN. After that, she’s starring in The Expendables 4 with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Andy Garcia, which is about as far from the cast of Johnny and Clyde as she could get. No matter the film, there’s a good chance that Fox will be front and center of the best scenes, somehow outshining all the action stars around her.
